The altitude adjustment really gave me a severe beating. I was dizzy and nauseous all day. We checked into the Hotel Novotel Cuzco and then went off to tour. We went to the Temple of the Sun, then the main square of Cuzco and then we went to see "the Sexy Woman". Actually it was an archaelogical site called Sacsayhuaman. Try pronouncing the word and you will see were it got its nickname from. Sacsayhuaman was a palace area for one of the Inca kings and the site of one of the major battles betweens the Incas and the Spaniards. A local man gave us some "Inca Mint" to sniff to help with altitude sickness. That combined with Quecha Tea kept me from getting even sicker. But that night I collapsed in bed, trying to save
all my strength for tomorrow and Machu Picchu.. |
