Day 3- Varanasi- April 2nd, 2002
The third day was started by getting off the train at the Mughal Sarai station, checking into my hotel and then taking a day tour of this wonderful city. I went to be early because they next morning I would be up at 5AM to go on the Ganges.

Buddha gave his first sermon here when he received enlightment. The spot is makred with a large supa.

Around Varanasi
The city of Varanasi is one of the holiest places for Hindus. Pilgrims from all over India and the world come here to bathe in the Ganges River. I checked into my hote, the wonderful Hotel Clark Varanasi. We went to the "Monkey Temple", Benares Hindu University, a silk store where I got some Punjab outfits and then a rug shop.
